I don’t know what I was expecting from this author, with “Free to Try” being her first ever novel.
I was not only pleasantly surprised but I thoroughly enjoyed it and furthermore, the story stayed with me long after I read it. This is a rarity for me given the amount of reading I have done over the years.
So when the second book “Free to Trust” was released I was eager to get started on it.
I like series where the main characters featured in one book become minor characters in other books, therefore keeping them in the story.
Another feature of this series is that it is packed full of suspense. So, while it fits nicely into the erotic romance genre there, is also a fair bit of action going on ‘out of the bedroom’.
There are only two books in the series so far, but I’m hoping Ms, Nightly releases a third one.
I can highly recommend this series with both books keeping me interested until the very last page.

Mrs. Pollifax Series

Mrs. Pollifax Series
The Mrs. Pollifax Series by Dorothy Gillman

I wasn't expecting to like this series. My father recommended this to me. And, while we didn't have exactly the same taste in book, we did have some crossover. Still, it just didn't sound like it would be good. It just sounded SO sounded implausible. A senior citizen walking into a CIA office to apply for a job as an agent and gets mistaken for someone that director is waiting for? Then gets put on assignment?? Not likely, right? Well, Miss Pollifax is an unexpectedly charming series. And, Ms. Pollifax turns out to be quite the firecracker and uses her newly learned Karate skills in some pretty dangerous situations!

This is apparently an older series. However, it doesn't feel outdated or old. The story is one that could be written today regarding a different time period much like a hystorical novel. Mrs. Gillman has you cheering for Mrs. Pollifax as she travels all over the world on what are supposed to be fairly danger free assignments, yet  she ends up being very innovative in the most dangerous situations. The characters are always interesting and imaginative.

I haven't yet finished the series. I have about 3 more to go. But, I will so miss Mrs. Pollifax.

Mrs. Pollifax is narrated by the AMAZING Barbara Rosenblat. (For all of you Orange is the New Black fans, she plays Miss Rosa Cisneros) I don't think there's anything that Ms. Rosenblat can't narrate. She actually reads several series that I listen to, quite by coincidence. She can do any accent, and just has amazing delivery and style.

Immortal Guardian Series

Immortal Guardian Series
The Immortal Guardian Series
by Dianne Duvall
This is another series I am just addicted to! I found The first book, Darkness Dawns browsing on audible for a new audiobook to listen to. I'm not usually into this genre, but I kept being recommended the Sookie Stackhouse series and ignored for a while before I finally bought it and was stuck. So, I decided to give this one a try after listening to the sample.

I literally was caught from the first sentence. I had to know what was going on. I was sucked in so fast and unfortunately, made the mistake of starting it right before bed. It did not wind me down before bed and I lost a great deal of sleep that night. I could not put it down. Ms. Duvall lust puts you right in the middle of the story. It's like you are in a 3D movie. I could literally see what the characters were seeing, I felt what they felt. I could feel their fear and determination. And I love her badass, kickass female characters and the strong alpha men who fight beside them and love them. Did I happen to mention they are pretty sexy too! The accents Kristen uses and the descriptions Dianne uses of these Alpha men make me wonder who here muses are. I'd like to see them! And, I love Lisette's character!! Now that's a kickass lady! And, Kristen does the French accents of her and her brother so well.

Ms. Duvall has just came out with book 6 and I'm afraid to start it. I am always left feeling like I need the net book NOW whenever I listen to one of her books.

The narrator, Kristen Potter, is WONDRFUL! This is a talented lady. Her accents are wonderful. And, as I've said before, I love when a series is read by the same narrator, granted the narrator is a good one. And, Kristen does not disappoint. Dianne's books Ms. Potter's narration are just a perfect marriage for your entertainment pleasure. This is vampire, or immortal's, paranormal, whatever you want to call it, at it's best! This is a 5 + star series!

The Donovan Series

I read these books years ago and LOVED THEM!! I am now enjoying them again in audio form. The Donovan's are international precious gem traders. And the world of precious gem trading is ruthless in these series of books. The characters are great. The family dynamics are interesting. Each book is a stand alone. However, I rarely read books out of order.

These books were my first introduction to Elizabeth Lowell, and  I have been a fan ever since. She has multiple books in my favorite/will read again and again list. She just never disappoints. If you are looking for more of  a light romantic suspense, or mystery, I highly recommend this series. The audio version is narrated very well by Robin Rowan. I love that the same narrator is kept throughout the series. This is just one of my personal preferences when it comes to a narrated series. Whether read in ebook or paper, or listened to, this is definitely a series I would recommend!

Books in the series: Amber Beach, Jade Island, Pearl Cove and Midnight in Ruby Bayou
